Respite Care Grant

We recognise the vital and often unseen role played by people who provide ongoing care for family members and loved ones.

The Respite Care Grant provides practical support to help carers rest, recover, and sustain their caring role.

About the Respite Care Grant

The grant is available to eligible beneficiaries who provide ongoing care to another beneficiary.

It helps cover the cost of short-term respite care, giving carers temporary relief and supporting the wellbeing of both the carer and the person receiving care.

Grants of up to £5,000 per beneficiary per year may be awarded.

What the grant can support

Funding may be used for short-term respite care, including:

  • Up to two weeks of residential respite care
  • Structured day centre placements
  • Emergency respite support during crisis periods
  • Increased home care provision during illness, exhaustion or periods of heightened need
  • Specialist dementia support interventions

Important information before applying

Before applying, all beneficiaries must complete a Care Guidance and Advice consultation with Grace Consulting. Following this, Grace Consulting will confirm whether respite care funding is appropriate and may identify additional sources of support.

Please ensure your grant is approved before incurring any costs. The trustees are unlikely to fund retrospective claims unless there were exceptional circumstances where it was not reasonably possible to apply in advance.
